NCFC Preview: Time To Sink Battleships

NCFC looks to keep their winning streak and playoff hopes alive as they travel to the glorious metropolis that is Jacksonville, Florida.

I know in the past that I have said that a game is “a massive fixture”, but I really mean it this week. NCFC is currently sitting in third place in the NASL “combined” standings with 42 points, while the Armada is fifth with 37 points (and a game in hand). NCFC obviously needs points to keep the distance from the Cosmos (fourth and also with 37 points and game in hand, playing FC Edmonton this weekend) and the Armada. Especially considering that the next game is up against the Deltas – who have only lost once this season and sit second in the overall standings.

The big test is going to be handling Jacksonville’s best player – midfielder Jack Blake. Or as Ryan likes to call him, “Prince Joffrey”. The Englishman has been crucial for the Armada this season, chipping in with both goals and assists. Plus he’s super feisty and annoying to watch.

But NCFC has been looking good in the past couple of weeks. They are currently on a three match unbeaten run and haven’t conceded a goal in four games. Plus, it was amazing to watch them put five (!) goals past Jon Busch the other week. I want to try to single out all of the players who have been performing well, but I think each and every one of them have been playing great soccer.

Oh, by the way, this game will be played on Friday the 13th. Superstitions aside, (I would hate to play on a Friday the 13th, but that’s me) I thought maybe I would post something good from a Friday the 13th movie. Well I ended up going down a bit of a YouTube hole and found this gem:

Ah yes, just Arsenio Hall interviewing Jason.

Predicted Outcome: 1-0 NCFC.
