Alright we’re back from our vacation week. Not much has changed with us but I did replace a light switch in my house last night. Now I’m feeling pretty handy. Next logical step is probably to rewire the house or build an addition by myself. Anyways lets get into it.
North Carolina FC Drops Tough One to New York Cosmos
NCFC looked flat in this one. I thought halftime would help them hit the reset button but the Cosmos just kept pressing and took it 1-0. The heat could be to blame but it ain’t going away anytime soon. We have a solution to this heat problem and it ain’t the splash pad. We’ll reveal our ideas on the podcast posting this Thursday morning.
NCFC is going through a rough patch in NASL play but are still in striking distance of second place. Miami is just cruising right now. I’m feeling a bounce back for the men of Sahlen’s Stadium as they travel to NYC to play the Cosmos again. Make sure to check out JP’s preview on Friday…even though I’m sure he hasn’t watched ALL the Die Hard movies in a quite sometime so can’t really speak when it comes to rankings.
Oh yea we still got a win against the Charlotte/Matthews/Wherever They Play Independence
Editors Note: Fitz must’ve still been on vacation mode as he skipped ahead a week thinking they played Indy. What an idiot! We apologize. It’s been corrected.
Courage Stay Atop The Table
— NC Courage (@TheNCCourage) June 5, 2017
The Courage dropped FC Kansas City 2-0 and rookie Ashley Hatch scored her first career goal on an assist from Lynn Williams. The Courage improve to 6-3 and sit two points ahead of second place Chicago. NWSL.com has the Courage ranked at #3 in the power rankings. Third? Are you out of your mind? I can see Chicago ahead of us but come one internet! Get it together.
The Courage get a week off for international play and return to action against the Boston Breakers on June 17. If you recall Boston is the team whose logo looks like a challenge team out of Virginia Beach.
NC State Baseball
Well for the third straight year NC State baseball was on the doorstep of making the Super Regional and for the third straight year they fell short by losing to Kentucky 10-5. What’s the old saying? “a team can never have enough pitching”…why have we let obvious phrases to continually be used? That’s like saying you can never have enough goal scorers in soccer and hockey or Mike is gonna miss a post deadline.
- Stanley Cup is getting interesting and making me sweat a little. Back in January I took Pittsburgh at 10-1 to win the Cup and now they are slowly giving it away with Nashville evening the series 2-2. Watching Pittsburgh lose wouldn’t be the worst thing but winning bets is important.
- My Cavs are down 2-0 in the Finals and I’m not upset. I keep reminding myself that I knew this was going to happen the day they signed Kevin Durant. Gonna take another miracle for the Cavs to pull this one out. Also, that Steph ‘burn’ of Lebron was a double dribble.
- Thad Matta is out at Ohio State. Always liked Thad, he seemed like he could take a joke. If you want a behind the scenes of what he was like as a coach at OSU’s peak then check out bench warmer Mark Titus’ book Don’t Put Me In Coach
