Raleigh Flyers Take Down Jacksonville At The Buzzer!

So I finally got around to watching the Raleigh Flyers play. For those of you unfamiliar, the Flyers are Raleigh’s professional ultimate frisbee team.

Anyways, this past Saturday the Flyers were going up against the city of Jacksonville. This intrigued me because I’ve grown to dislike Jacksonville quite a bit over the last few weeks. This game did not disappoint. I watched the end of the game on twitter (great video quality…seriously) and it came down to the last play where Raleigh was able to get the win 21-20 as time expired.

Two Takeaways:

  1. We will definitely start sending a crew out to Cardinal Gibbons for games
  2. Look at these shorts! These are real nice and only $35. I’m getting a pair.

Canes Win Championship

Yes, you read that correctly. The Swedes won the 2017 World Championship by defeating Canada 2-1 on Sunday. The Swedish team consisted of four current Hurricanes: Victor Rask, Elias Lindholm, Eddie Lack, and Joakim Nordstrom. Congratulations to the champions. Also, congrats to Jeff Skinner and Sebastian Aho who finished in the top 15 in scoring for the tournament.

What does this mean? First off, no one got hurt which is a great thing. Secondly, all those mentioned were able to play in meaningful games which can’t hurt.  Now just need to figure out how to translate this into early season wins.

National News:

  • Warriors move onto NBA Finals. Obviously, no one is surprised. As a Cavs fan I was hoping they wouldn’t get there, but now lets see if the Cavs can close out Boston and then pull some  magic out of their hat.
  • Nashville Predators have made their first ever Stanley Cup Final. Extremely jealous right now. How ya feeling Montreal?
