Is it ever gonna stop raining? Hope y’all had a nice weekend! I know we did. I’ve been here brainstorming of what to write and I realized HGTV has been just running in the background. Can’t really tell you what they’ve decided on, but I’m sure they didn’t like the cabinets and there was too much carpet.
North Carolina Football Club Nets Four Points
The Courage battled with the Portland Thorns and were victorious on a nasty goal by Debinah to take it 1-0. Sounds like there was a solid turnout at Sahlen’s for the home opener. Good job. The men of North Carolina FC played to a draw (1-1) in Miami, with the bad guys scoring the game tying goal in the final minute of stoppage. Moneyline bet was +400, but I know it was much tougher for the actual players on the field…maybe. Interestingly, Gabriel Farfan wasn’t listed on match center. Seems more than a coincidence that a certain blog in Raleigh launches a Farfan awareness week and he doesn’t play. Just shows you the power of Raleigh. Also, keeper Brain Sylvestre wins NASL player of the week. That’s two weeks in a row for the good guys.

Bunch of Guys Trying to Move Away From Chapel Hill
Joel Berry, Theo Pinson, and Tony Bradley are going to test the NBA waters but not hire agents. Justin Jackson has already said he’s splitting town. Must be nice Chapel Hill. Must be nice to have all this talent and get to worry if you have enough talent to make another run. Here in Raleigh we’ll be happy if a seven footer who can’t finish beneath the rim comes back for another year. I will say this: Kevin Keatts is winning the offseason right now. Keep it up Coach Keatts.
Hurricanes’ Derek Ryan Named A Finalist For Masterton Trophy
Winner to be named June 21 at NHL Awards.
— Carolina Hurricanes (@NHLCanes) April 24, 2017
Derek Ryan was named as one of three finalists for The Masterton Trophy award for “perserverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.” The other candidates have a great story and are better known but they aren’t associated with Raleigh. Long story short, Ryan didn’t make his North American professional debut until he was 29 years old. The guy grinded away and never gave up on his dream. I’m not going to lie, when I picked up hockey late in life I thought I had a shot at the NHL. Guess what? It didn’t work out, but Ryan is doing it for all of us who are better at crushing a dance floor with weird moves than doing any sort of worthwhile exercise. Lets goooo!
- Jabrill Peppers drank too much water and now the NFL says he has a ‘diluted’ urine test. The NFL says this is the same as a positive test, but not positive. I don’t know. Wasn’t this guy gonna be a #1 pick a few months ago? Hey NFL, way to kick a guy when he is down.
- Jimmy Johnson wins at Bristol. Just kidding. No, it happened. But we don’t care.
- Joe Thorton of the San Jose Sharks was playing through a MCL and ACL tear. Senator’s Erik Karlsson is playing with BROKEN heals. No snarky/jerk comments here, thats damn impressive. I leave the gym early if I don’t stretch properly.
