Canes Keep Fighting Against Panthers

Over the last eight games the Canes showed the fight they lacked in the beginning of the season. Once again, they didn’t give up despite trailing three times against the Panthers and took the victory 4-3. Jeff Skinner netted two goals with Tuevo Tervainen and Sebastian Aho with one each.

The Canes have picked up points in eight straight games going 5-0-3 and sit six points out of the final wild card spot. Could this happen? It could, but I’ve already jinxed us a few times this season claiming ‘they’re back’. I’ll keep my mouth shut and say we just have to keep winning and get a lot of help from others.

Goal Of The Game: Jeff Skinner’s Game Winner

Random Hockey Thoughts:

This season has shown some growth with the Hurricanes core. Below I mention a few:

Jeff Skinner could best his career high of 33 goals if he gets five more by the end of the season.

Elias Lindholm surpassed his career high of 39 points this evening. The difference is he has done it in far fewer games due to injuries. The future is looking bright for Elias.

Jaccob Slavin has truly moved to untouchable status. Consistent from end to end.

Random Raleigh Thoughts:

Between North Carolina FC and the Hurricanes we have two Turbos in Connor Tobin and Tuevo Teravainen. You know what needs to happen? Not a competition to see who can use it. Rather, we need to develop some sort of buddy cop sitcom. Think Brooklyn Nine Nine meets Lethal Weapon movies. Heck, we’ll do the pilot! We just need to get them on board. We’re getting good at video editing…sort of. More to come on this later.

What’s Next?: The Canes travel to Montreal on Thursday night for a game against the Canadians at 7:30. We’ll be scoreboard watching the Toronto game on Wednesday because a loss opens the possibility to allow the Canes to pull within four points. The Canes are now 31-27-13 on the year.
