WEEKEND TO DO (2/24)

This weekend doesn’t have a whole lot of outdoor events, maybe because people didn’t envision it pushing 80 degrees in February. However, there’s plenty to do around town. As always, we recommend getting downtown and taking in the restaurant and bar scene.

Restaurant Of The Weekend: Trophy Tap & Table (Old Busy Bee)

Bar Of The Weekend: Fox’s Liquor Lounge

City Of The Weekend: Charlotte….Just Kidding It’s Raleigh

Friday

Carolina Hurricanes vs Ottawa Senators /7:30 PM/ PNC Arena

It’s Hockey Is For Everyone night. The Canes playoff hopes may be slim, but that’s not a reason to stop supporting our local team. It’ll be perfect tailgate weather, so grab some Natural Lights and hit up the black top off Edwards Mill Road.

Saturday

NC State vs UVA / 12:00 PM / PNC Arena

It’s Mark Gottfried’s final game as head coach in the PNC Arena and the #18 struggling Wahoos roll into town. This will be an interesting matchup and it’s the last home basketball game of the year, so make sure to head out and get the last dose of live ACC basketball. Only four more weeks until Will Wade becomes head basketball coach.

Great Raleigh Chili Cookoff / 2:00 PM/ Tir na Nog

Come on, who doesn’t like chili? Even if you don’t, at least you’re downtown and can go hit up Coglins and dance the night away. Tasting tickets are $5.

Sunday

Carolina Hurricanes vs Calgary Flames / 3:00 PM / PNC Arena

The Canes will be rolling off of a victory from Friday  night and Sebastain Aho/Tuevo Teravain will have scored two goals, so might as well head back to the arena. The RCS boys are still waiting for our invitation to perform live with the Storm Squad, just saying maybe it’s time.

Juicy J / 8 PM / The Ritz

Extend your Sunday Funday into the night and just wipe out your Monday productivity. As stated last week, Moneybags would really like him to be a candidate for the NC State job based on his record of giving scholarships for the best twerker. Juicy J puts on a good show, and who can’t forget a top five reality show in MTV’s Hollyhood so pay your respects.
