Jet’s Top Dance Spots In Raleigh

Spring weather is coming in early this year, and wedding season is just around the corner. So now’s the perfect time to get off your couch, grab a beer and work on fine tuning those dance moves. We put a list together for you of our top 5 sweetest places to get your boogie on in Raleigh.

5) C. Grace – 407 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27606

A hole-in-the-wall, speakeasy, live jazz, and cocktail bar.   I’m a little biased here because I love jazz, but this place is sweet.  When you walk in, it feels like you stepped into a time machine and zipped back a few decades.  The décor and atmosphere is enough to get the dullest of people out of their chairs and on the dance floor. The only knock on this place is the price of drinks – $10-15 cocktails can really put the hurtin’ on a young man’s wallet.

4) Cornerstone Tavern – 603 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27603

A great place when there’s great weather.  The wood floors inside make for the perfect dance rink. I mean, you can slide on these floors for days.  Be sure to get there early, because on a nice night this place is packed.

3) Milk Bar – 410 Glenwood Ave #101, Raleigh, NC 27603

Milk Bar tends to get a little rowdy, with lots of heavy boozers.  Which makes it perfect for trying out some new moves that you might have been too shy to do elsewhere.  The only downside here is it can get pretty crowded on weekend nights, so go a little earlier in the night.

2) Coglins – 226 Fayetteville St, Raleigh, NC 27601 –

Are you an 80’s and 90’s music freak?  If so, then this is your spot because that’s all they play.  Coglins is known for being a dance bar, so I’m pegging them at number 2 on my list.  Great spot to grab a beer and reminisce on your favorite tunes growing up, and it can get pretty crazy.  So if you want to hear the person next to you, I suggest you look elsewhere.. This is strictly dancing, people.

1) Architect – 108 E Hargett St, Raleigh, NC 27601

This place is the ultimate dancer’s playground. You enter by climbing a seemingly endless flight of stairs, which leads to one giant dance pad sidelined by a bar and restrooms: all you need.

There you have it, now you have no excuses for being a shy guy.  Get out and go show this city how to dance.
