RECAP: Jackets down the Pack

Yogi must’ve been a State fan because “it’s like deja vu all over again.” We’ve heard all week about how this team is getting better. Well, if that’s what improvement looks like, I’d hate to see the inverse.  DSJ and Maverick played well, among a few others, but it just wasn’t enough as the Yellow Jackets had an offensive explosion and hand the Pack their 3rd L in a row 86-76.

Basically it’s the same old shit. While we know defense has rarely been a hallmark of a Mark Gottfried coached ball club (or effort for that matter), their defensive ineptitude continues to wow. Getting beat on the ball, check. Getting beat off the ball, check. Not picking up cutters, check. Not boxing out, check. We do it all!

OK, sorry for the frustration, but I’m sure you get it. I’ve counted out several recent Coach Gott teams and I was proven wrong. I hope they prove me wrong again.

Player(s) of the Game:  Josh Okogie & Quinton Stephens

I’ve seen a lot of Stephens during his time at GT. And, State, per usual, provides a career game for him. Josh Okogie on the other hand is just a player. D’s it up, strong finisher and a good shooter. Well played, Jackets.

Honorable Mention: Aaron Rodgers

Different game, but damn. That dude is clutch and just makes throws that other guys can’t make.

What’s Next: We’ll see if the Pack (12-6) can rebound Tuesday night at PNC against Kevin Stallings’ Pitt Panthers (12-6).
