HURRICANES

RECAP: Hurricanes vs Blues

That’s two wins in two days for Raleigh sports and the second win in a month versus a MLS expansion city competitor (NC State vs Vanderbilt). So things are going pretty well in the City of Oaks. The Canes picked up a very solid road win as they knocked off a good St Louis Blues team 4-2. The game was a must win for the Raleigh Hockey Club as they needed two points to stay in the mix in the playoff standings. The Canes battled back from being down 2-1 and were able to fight and claw their way to a win in the third period. Derek Ryan tallied two goals, while Jay McClement and Jeff Skinner each hung one on the Blues.

Storm Level: Category 1 Hurricane. While the win was a big one, the play on the ice was tough to watch.

Goal Of The Game: Jeff Skinner

Player of The Game: Derek Ryan

Doc set the tone early with a goal 69 seconds into the game and then completed the bookends by torching one into a empty net.
Also, I have to give Derek credit. Anytime he does a interview during intermission he’s always looking chill.

What’s Next?:

The Hurricanes improve to 17-14-7 and sit four points out of the final playoff spot. Carolina travels to Chicago for a Friday night match-up versus the Blackhawks at 8:30 on FSC.
