#CanesAfterDark has completed its run for the time being as the Hurricanes dropped one to San Jose 4-2. The Canes now have completed the Cali swing and come home 1-1-1 on the trip. The game felt like a loser from the start when the Sharks’ Patrick Marleau put one in only 12 seconds into the game. However, the Canes battled back and played solid puck but a few bad bounces caused the Hockey Club of Raleigh to lose a tight game.

Storm Category: Category 2 Hurricane. Even in the loss the Canes looked solid and battled. Per usual they out shot their opponent 33-20. Jeff Skinner put up 11 shots of his own but was unable to find the net.

Canes Goal of the Game:

Hurricane of the Game: This is tough because Derek Ryan continues to play well but I’m giving it to Ole Sebastian Aho as that dude is everywhere on the ice. We like hustle here at Raleigh City Sports and got to give credit where credit is due.

What If?: Two of San Jose’s goals came off lucky bounces. One, a deflection off Brett Pesce’s skate and the other a great screen and tip by Logan Couture. However, it’s not about what ifs and a loss is a loss. Lucky bounces are hockey.

What’s Next?: After having played 9 of last 11 on the road the Hurricanes return to Raleigh on Tuesday to faceoff against the Vancouver Canucks. Raleigh City Sports will be there. Let us know if you’re drinking some Labatts in the parking lot before the game.
